Biology: Prokaryotes

4. Imagine you’re a partner in biological research firm. You have the money and facilities to do some research on organic chemicals or prokaryotes. Choose one or the other, and write on essay to present the reason for your choice.

I would choose Prokaryotes . I feel like there are so many of them that you would never stop learning an I think that wold be fun!

Biology: What Would Happen?

So, prairies get fires approximately every 2-3 years. Fires aren’t a good thing. They destroy and disturb everything in that communities living area.

If there were no fires for 100 years I can only imagine what would happen. Taking for granted there are no other disturbances. The grass and flowers would be tall. And hopefully a beautiful place.

Biology: Whats Up With the Kangaroo.

Do you ever wonder, “Why can’t this animal live here?”

If it were just up to the climate a lot of animals that are indigenous to just one place could live a lot more place, could live a lot more places.

But, all animals need things like predators to keep things in check.

So while it’d be cool to have things like kangaroo’s in America we don’t have the proper predators.

Biology: Cancer.

Cancer. Something everybody hates, and many people live their life being scared they’ll get.

My aunt died of breast cancer before I was born so it was very interesting to learn about how it happens.

Cancer is something that brews in your body for a very long time. It starts as a mutated cell. Which causes other cells to mutate. This activates oncogene, a gene that causes cancer. Then it slowly or quickly, depending on the kind of cancer, gets out of control.

Biology: Why Are More Men Color Blind?

So, females have two chromosomes called X. Even if one of these has color blindness potential, a female will most likely not be colorblind, if the second chromosome is not colorblind. This is because the X without colorblindness tends to be more dominant.

But since she has the colorblindness trait, she can pass it to her son. This means he will be colorblind, because men have XY chromosomes and Y chromosomes hold very little genetic traits.

The only way for a female to be color blind is if her father is colorblind and her mother caries the colorblindness traits.

Biology: Why Is My Heart Beating So Fast?

I have younger siblings so they often try to jump in front of me suddenly, or sneak up behind me.

When they do this my heart rate picks up and my first reaction is to either fight or run. This is because Epinephrine, also known as Adrenaline starts pulsing through my body. That is until my body decides if it’s a threat or not. In the case of my siblings, it’s not a threat so my body calms down and my heart rate goes back to normal.

But if it were a threat my brain would tell my adrenal glands to start flowing through my body and my heart would keep beating fast. What is known as ” fight or flight” would kick in. This is when your body decides if it can fight what’s happening or if it should run.

Biology: Why Are Creatures Dying Then.

The sun is a marvelous thing! Though it’s millions of miles away it somehow provides more energy then it could possibly use. Yet, somehow energy is something the creatures have to work to passes.

It’s because of the atmosphere. The atmosphere a plethera of dirt particles that stop lots of the energy from actually getting to the earth. A very small percentage actually gets to use. That’s why creatures are dying.
